Paul has always composed and arranged music as a parallel path in his career. In the late 1970's he carved a niche supplying pro. singers with bespoke charts for the (then predominantly live) club and pub scene and later, in 1980 he formed the jazz/funk band 'Joint Effort', whose set lists were built around his original compositions.
In the late 80's, he and and writer/guitarist Arthur Dick joined forces to compose and record many TV and radio jingles, as well as award-winning scores for corporate videos. The mid-nineties saw Paul composing incidental music for BBC's Generation Game (as well as playing in the house band) and arranging for an increasing number of clients...
In 1998, Paul bought his first Mac and in '99, the score-writing software Sibelius ; this happily coincided with a call from Live Business Grosvenor to arrange and act as musical supervisor for two new, ambitious production shows ... Over the next few years, Paul went on to score and record 16 prestigious shows for the company.
As the 90's drew to a close, Paul found himself entering a long and happy relationship with Music Sales UK: transcribing and then recording famous - and not so famous - bass lines, and then playing them for the 'sound-alike' recordings. To date, he's clocked up over fifty 'Play Guitar With' and 'Play Bass With' book & CD editions.

In the last few years, as well as arranging for sessions and self-contained acts, Paul has been closely involved with other respected UK arrangers/musical directors such as Rick Coates, Simon Niblock, Duncan Waugh and others, in the creation of high quality, sophisticated scores for the flourishing cruise sector of the global entertainment industry. This involves creating material for live orchestras, backing tracks to be pre-recorded, or a combination of both.
As you'd expect, the breadth of musical diversity in these productions is considerable; in the last year alone, Paul's output has included sizeable reworkings of music from Take That, Verdi, Petula Clarke, Earth Wind and Fire, Leonard Bernstein, Dave Gruisin and Abba - amongst others...
